Romney doing a good job of making himself unelectable.

First he decides to condemn almost half the population for not being able to "look after themselves"

Sauce

But now I have just read from the BBC's twatter that a new tape has been uncovered of Romney saying the Palestinians are "not interested in peace".

It's looking likely that this man will implode before the election even starts.

The best part?

Most Americans who don't pay taxes are in Majorly-Republican states where they are praising Income Tax cuts.

I can't. Stop. Laughing.

I like how Romney claims to be for the middle class. Of course his statement that you're middle class if your income is over 200 000$ might explain it a bit.

And the sad part is, even after all these gaffs, polls still have him around 45%. I mean WTF is wrong with 45% of this country? Do that many people watch Fox News? Even members from his own party are starting to distance themselves from this train wreck of a candidate, but the polls are still close.

He finally released his 2011 tax returns today. Late on a Friday no less. What are you trying to hide Mittens? Well lets see what the experts have uncovered so far.

1) In August, he promised in an interview that he hasn't paid less than 13% in taxes the past 10 years, but he still refuses to release any returns before 2010. He just expects us to take his word for it. You've been running for president for how many years Mittens and it never occurred to you to get your tax affairs in order? You didn't believe people were going to ask? Your own dad released 12 years of returns when he ran for the GOP. You have to wonder why someone would rather butt heads with every interviewer from now to the election over tax returns rather than just release the damn things and get it over with if they claim they have nothing to hide. Wouldn't you? Seems so simple.

2) Fast forward to today ... according to his returns, he donated some $4m in 2011, but only claimed $2m of it. Why? Because by doing so, he was able to live up to his promise that he hadn't paid less than 13% lol. See what he did there? Had he claimed the full $4m it would've been less than 13%, and thus making him a liar.

3) Wait a minute, In another interview back in July, he said if he paid more taxes than he legally had to, he shouldn't be qualified to run for president. Well by not claiming his full deductions, he essentially paid more taxes than he legally had to. Well thanks for playing Mitt, maybe you'll have better luck in 2016.

4) Well hold the phone, after the election, he can retroactively claim the full $4m. Anyone want to bet he does, whether he wins the election or not? Sounds like a safe bet. But look at that, he gets to fudge the numbers to avoid looking like a liar, and doesn't break his own made up qualification to run because he can amend his taxes later when it's more convenient lol. I mean WOW, did he really think nobody was going to notice?

But seriously, what more does this clown have to do before people wake the hell up? It's like a form of stockholm syndrome the way morons are still out there defending this guy. It's a shame that nearly half this country is so stupid they don't realize when they've been duped into voting against their own best interests.

Welcome to LoR, Reignman! :D

The problem with this 45$ is that their voting party ideology: if a elephant stood for president, they'd vote for it - because it's the GOP candidate.

As for Romney, he tried to be all things to all men (and women) - he blows wherever the wind blows in order to get the nomination/elected, hence the accusations of flip-flopping.

He said one thing in one recent interview, then contradicted himself in another.

I'm sure pundits will take him apart on his dissembling over tax returns:
a) His father released twelve (12) years of tax returns when he ran for president, having been governor three times;
b) Romney, when he drew up his VP list, demanded ten (10) years of tax returns from them;
c) He's run for nomination as the GOP presidential candidate already - yet didn't release tax returns;

He's like a chameleon - it's strange that those on the right accuse those on the left of being immoral/amoral, yet Romney can shift positions with impunity.

Kindest regards,

James

This isn't particularly controversial, certainly not the most controversial thing he has done. Truth be told I agree, Palestinians have no interested in peace.

I beg to differ, MGK.

The extremists on both sides - Palestinians and Israelis - aren't interested in the other side having any right to exist.

This is not much different than Northern Ireland.

The majority in the middle just want to get on with life but are prevented from doing so by the extremists' views of their respective groups.

Kindest regards,

James

He's not far off. The Palestinian leaders are certainly not interested in peace and those of the Palestinians who are interested are powerless to do anything about it anyway. I mean realistically what are you going to do if you disagree with Hamas' or Fatah's policies and think they're going about it the wrong way with Israel? Protest? Yeah right...

Anyway not to go off-topic, my point is, this one statement isn't that controversial at all. If I was American, I'm not saying I'd vote for him, but it wouldn't make him "unelectable" either.

The biggest obstacle to peace in Israel/Palestine is people like Mitt Romney who do everything in their power to prevent a workable solution from coming to fruition.
