Religion and American constitution

Some of you may know this already, but anyway I thought I would share this.

To my surprise I found that there is only one appearance to religion in US constitution, in Article 6, which says:

"No religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

You mean the First Amendment which is for Freedom of the Press, Freedom of(/from) Religion, and one other I forget at this point, but I think Doc was mentioning the fact that the word religion appears in the original document only once to illustrate a point, and one that many on the more conservative side of the political spectrum here seem to ignore, that this country was NOT founded on religious values, but the free practice there of, and the freedom NOT to be religous.

Indeed. The only mention of religion in the original US Constitution was to deny it any role in government.

I wonder what would happen if I emailed this to Glenn Beck?
Also, for all of you non-Americans out there:
The Bill of Rights and the Amendments are not considered part of the origional constitution. The Bill of Rights couldn't be guaranteed untill everyone could get together and decide on what exactly the rights should BE (which could be done in the system they had developed). Nothing could be added on untill it was approved.
But, I digress too much.

@Hytegia

I think we all know what would happen if you did e-mail that point to Glenn Beck, and it can be summed up in this word: DENIAL.

Why go to the constitution to prove the US is not religious. All I have to say is Treaty with Tripoli 1796, Art. 11.

" Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;"
