Red Dwarf: Back to Earth

I haven't had a chance to see it yet. I'm sure it will take netflix a year before they send it to me. =(

Well I had very low expectations for it, so that helped me enjoy it. It wasn't great, but I had a few laughs and I liked the ending.

it was rubbish, not with a live audience, the acting was WORSE than before. and none of it was anywhere near as funny as the origional ones from before... nice failing they did there

I enjoyed it. Clever writing and the cast instantly fit back into their roles. Agreed that it wasn't on par with old RD, but the rumors are flying that Dave is gonna invest in series 9 :)

I don't think RD was ever filmed in front of a live audience, the sets are too elaborate. But having said that, it really really needed a laughter track. It always suited the style of comedy in RD and the lack of laughter made it pretty surreal to watch. It was like watching the cast of RD accidentally stumble into the Office or Extras - this is NOT that kind of comedy! Sort it out Naylor.

Also, I miss the non-CGI scutters.

I watched the first ep, have yet to see the last two. I dunno really.. from what I saw, it wasn't nearly as good as the old series.

It also didn't really work for me, how OLD they all were >> The kind of comedy RD does, just doesn't work for with actors as old as or older than my parents >>

I've heard stories that Doug Naylor doesn't want to do a series 9 and he wants to jump right into series 10, that way series 9 would be an in-joke about the events during the missing nine years. I don't know if it is true at all, but I'd be willing to go along with that.

All of the original series except 7 were done with a live audience.

I thought it started off strong, then got tedious early in part 2 and never recovered. The ending was kind of good, but lacked the Red Dwarf punch I'm used to.

I quite enjoyed it :) It did need the laughter track tho, not for a queue for when to laugh, but just to fill it out, it seemed a bit empty without it...

Watched all three, and whilst there were a few cringe-worthy and awkward moments, the rest outshone them.

As soon as I can get this on DVD, I'm having it thanks. Will sit nicely next to my DVD set of the series. :)

I enjoyed it. The part where what's-her-face gets hit by a car was gold.

Not nearly as good as their old stuff, but that's all right.

Loved it, typical red dwarf, a set of random events mixed with terribly funny jokes and a ending I wasn't expecting. Its great, I love it.

the sound its species makes, and only 1 other syllable. This web page contains 3 things--an illustration of the animal from the photo, a form, and a disclaimer. What is the number of letters in the body part of the animal that the original photo documents, subtracted from the number of letters that the property of the webservers has (per the disclaimer)?

Uh, what's this about then?
Major ressurect.

Thread res of doom, but I'm gonna contribute. I didn't like it, cheap gags, not really funny, didn't go anywhere interesting.

Red Dwarf lost most of its appeal for me round about series 6.

Agreed *nods* they had so much more personality... In fact, I miss the non-CGI everything!

I thought it was okay... I didn't like the Fourth Wall-breaking at all, also I didn't find it that funny. :\
