Recreational Drug Use

Thoughts? Opinions?

Note: this is all discussion about what you would endorse or would have done in a hypothetical world where nothing is illegal. But in the interest of keeping discussion readable we're going to drop all the "hypothetically" from our sentences, as things like "hypothetically I would enjoy marijuana and hypothetically I'd encourage everyone else to at least try it a few times" get quite tedious.

Also, as a random coincidence this is my 3500th post... Wow.

None besides alcohol, even if it were all legal.

In my youth I experimented with a wide range of things, basically anything that could be taken without the use of needles. Oh and not crystal meth either, i'm not THAT stupid.

In all honesty I never liked any of the effects of them and never felt the desire to take any of them again.

I'd rather just have a crate of cider if it's all the same to you. :)

It's not really the illegality that bothers me so much as the health concecuences; I don't smoke (Since like 13+ years ago), I don't drink alcohol (alcoholic father will do that to you), and I have always dreaded the repercutions to my health that drugs may have.

If we could say 100% it's safe, however, I might be inclined to try mushrooms or the "smart pill", there is another one that makes lucid dreaming easier (Im getting better on my own however). He illegality has never bothered me much since I don't belive that something that affects only you should be ilegal when used by a consentig adult, however ilegality makes getting those kinds of thing dangerous both for the legar repercutions and for the people one has to get associated with in order to get them also there is the problem of adiction.

Kicking nicotine and caffeine was a bitch, I'm not looking forwar to becoming addicted to anything else (even if the adiction is not fisical y can be psychological)

How do you define drugs? As any mind altering, addicting substance? Or do you use a more restricted definition? If so, which? Because if you don't, pretty much everything is a drug...

I'd need that answered first.

If drugs were all totally legal? I can't really say what I'd have done or would do if the drugs were legal from the time I was born since the culture would be so totally different that I wouldn't be exactly me. As for if all drugs were made legal (and affordable) now I can't see much change in my usage. I don't smoke, I drink alcohol in moderation and have never taken other drugs than what is over the counter or ordered by doctors. I would probably grow and try my own cannabis (my hobbies atm include tomato and chili growing so growing my own has some appeal to me) just to see if it does anything nice to me but keep away from other stuff since I think there are more negative sides than positive sides to them, at least for me.

As a side note I think marijuana should be legal and controlled in the manner similar of tobacco. After I say this in internet conversations nobody believes me that I haven't even tried the stuff.

I have only ever drunk alcohol and smoked hookah (tobacco). I do not think that would have changed much (seeing as how the legality of drugs never stopped anyone I knew from easily obtaining them (even alcohol when I was way under age)). I never liked the effects that marijuana and other drugs had on my friends. To be honest, the only reason I drink beer, spirits, and wines is that I enjoy the taste. I could care less for the effects (most of the time). That was the same reason why I smoked hookah, loved the taste of it. I would probably still smoke hookah if my wifey did not break my hookah pipe.

On a side note, I do believe that all natural substances should be legal and a few synthetic ones as well.

I'm awesomely teetotal, so I have no experience myself, but I have friends who smoke weed, and I find weed makes people boring. As for the legality? Meh.

I don't have a problem with recreational use at all. If one is reliably informed of the effects and the possible dangers and takes appropriate heed (don't operate heavy machinery, social setting etc), I don't think it's any of my business.

One could argue that without it we'd have no Sgt. Peppers or Are You Experienced, and that's a world no one should have to live in.

I've had some things and enjoyed it for the majority of the time. However, age has crept up on me and now I prefer just a good sit down or a walk in the Countryside. Throw in a dog and I'd take the walk over anything.

I can, to the best of my knowledge, say that it hasn't caused me any harm, but there are those people who it has. The point is education, you will never stop people doing it, so make sure they do it safely, moderately and in comfortable surroundings. Like anything dangerous, it can be fun, just make sure you don't go too far with it.

for my self when I was much younger back in (99-02) I went through my Rave days and done tons of xtc, (of course at the time I had no clue that the pills which were pill pressed were mixed with many other drugs such as heroin, meth, coke etc.. so I kinda done them all you could say.. However I did try coke and crystal meth too (i am a baddd person) but kicked all those bad habits long ago. Only thing I have done recently would be smoke pot and even now I don't do that. I have made my own blend (Damiana Leafs mixed with Yohimbine Powder) gives a much like being stoned effect and is legal and extremely cheap. I will wait for pot to become legal (at least medically) before I do it again...

Also I do smoke cigs.... cant seem to kick that habit, but I have quit drinking since I have been diagnosed with Chronic pancreatitis and been hospitalized twice already due to it.
So I am done with the drinking at least!
