Question about a book.

When one of my co-workers found out about my interest in Robotics and Cybernetics he recommened the book The Singularity is Near by Ray kurzweil.

It is unfortunate to say I know nothing of the author nor the book. I was hopeing some of you might know a little about it before I go pick up a copy.
