About time something happened.. sincerely hope that this complete bullshit soon comes to an end.
Same sex marriages is not a priviledge, it's a right. (Okay, I know that marriage as a whole is a priviledge, but it sounds cool this way..)

I tend to think of this from the other side. Rights come in two flavours. Either the conveyance of a privilege, or the lapsing of a restriction.

I find it helps remove emotion from the argument if we refer to objects rather than living people.

First, consider a union of entities, A and B. Society accords the two entities, A and B, privileges. So, we can say that a union is privilege, one that can only exist as part of a society.

We can then apply restrictions to various types of union, for all kinds of reasons. When discussing a union based on love one restriction we migtht put in place is to insist that A and B are from the same species.

Taking this back to a more personal level, A further restriction, and the one in question here, is that the two parties must be from different genders. Again this is a restriction on the unions permissible.

Compaigning for the right for gays to marry is misleading. It's not a right, its a restriction that has been applied to society and a restriction that should be removed.

I kept seeing this thread and thinking "so what? I though that had already been done" it only recently occurred to me that it had been done in california court, not U.S. federal court, and this is more of a nation wide thing.
