Pope effectively stops Equality Bill

I say let them have it.

Let them be a (the) living demonstration of an outdated, backward worldview, while the rest of society moves forward.

It will come back to bite them in their ass.

I've never seen a clearer example that religions are discriminatory bigots. I find it ironic that an equality bill basically says "no one can discriminate, except for religions because they must be free to be bigoted, I mean, otherwise they wouldn't be religions, right?"

eh legislating that the church accept gays is a bad idea. more fruitful: remind them and everyone else how bigoted they are being and eventually they will change their ways. maybe not the last bit, but one can hope

Wait a minute.....doesn't the Catholic Church view homosexuality as a choice and not something by birth? This is relevant because the Catholic Church also claims celibacy for their priesthood.

So I fail to see what the Pope's complaint is, because if they are following the Church Doctrine of celibacy then they aren't having sex with men, and if they aren't having sex with men then they have chosen not to be homosexual (in the twisted view of the church)

Are you actually trying to use reason in reference to religion (especially Catholicism)? They would probably retort with some kind of thought-crime and sin nonsense.

Well... this is where I go a little crazy... Adult men aren't allowed to have sex with other adult consenting men.. (and sarcasm alert!) but Priests and Cardinals aren't gay at all if they're only fucking the choirboys. No... not at all. And it especially isn't worse. And they're not breaking their vows of celibacy, no.. and they're speaking God's word, yes they are. And they're going to Heaven.
But if they were fucking each other... that'd be a sin.
