Polymer extrusion question.

Quick question.
If you want to increase the output of an extruder without changing the specifications of the extruder but decreasing the rpm of the extruder screw, how is that done? I know it has something to do with changing the friction coefficients between the polymer and the screw and the polymer and the extruder wall but does the coefficients for the screw need to increase and the wall decrease or is it the other way around?
