Pat Condell Votes UKIP

I saw that he join a facebook group called "i'm voting for UKIP". I have to say that i'm a bit disappointed that pat is right-wing and anti-immigration and european cooperation. The following is from the Guardian by Tony Juniper.
What of Ukip? While the media initially portrayed them as the main beneficiaries of the expenses scandal, polls again show their support to have levelled off. Like the BNP, a vote for Ukip would actually be a vote against cleaning up politics: two of their MEPs have already been charged or convicted of fraud, and their leader Nigel Farage has apparently boasted that his party costs the taxpayer over ,£2m of public funding. Farage was rated among the worst 10 MEPs out of the entire 786 in the European parliament in terms of accountability and transparency. He presides over a party so rabidly anti-Europe that they vote against any EU legislation, regardless of any potential benefit to the UK. At a time when the EU is the only possible leader on global climate, and when the EU is responsible for some 80% of the UK's environmental legislation, Ukip's climate change denial is not only embarrassing but is very dangerous.

I can't honestly say that I'm surprised that he voted for an anti-immigration party after watching his vids on Islam. He seems to be not only angry but almost hateful...

This is from one of his videos

" Lets be clear I welcome immigration to Britain, its a healthy thing for the economy and I think its a good thing for the country. This is about t religion and only about religion So to any white supremacist morons out there who think they can latch on to this video in the way theyve attempted to with some of my previous videos, go and take a piss on a live electric rail, because I am not your friend, Im you enemy, and Im proud to be your enemy just as Im proud to be an enemy of every creep islamo-fascist on this planet because you people are tow sides of the same coin and its an evil pointless worthless currency that I want nothing to do with"

I enjoy Pat's videos, but his "angry British speaker" persona kind of reminds me of the talk show host on V for Vendetta.

Good videos Coughlan!

I've never been a fan of Pat. I don't see how anyone could have been suprised by this. I never thought his criticisms of religion were as good as others on Youtube. He's strictly motivated by hate, not reason or science. Has he ever demonstrated any scientific knowledge or has he ever showed any interest in it? No, all he ever does is attack religion. He has made it clear in many of his videos even before this one that he's a strong right-wing nationalists, which is why I don't see how anyone could have been suprised by this.

To the people who want to support him simply because he's an atheist, I have to ask, would have supported Joseph Stalin too?

And then some people say, "well, Pat is only voting for UKIP because he supports their stance on religion. Not the other things."

Really? So that makes it okay? I should support a racists, homophobic party because I agree with them on one issue? Is that really okay?

Ok, fuck Condell. This litterally and genuinely felt like a kick in the nuts.

I'm honestly shocked.

So in his latest video Pat explains that his vote for UKIP is merely a protest vote to show his displeasure to the other parties. All the while he insults pretty much everyone (Heck I was offended even though I was pretty neutral on the whole thing) and screaming at everyone for misunderstanding his intentions.

And I'm not even sure I agree with his strategy of "betraying science and atheism" for freedom. Voting for UKIP even as a protest vote feels like the saying "cutting off the nose to spite the face".

PATRICK MOORE VOTES UKIP?

I've honestly lost all respect for the man.

Looks like I'm going to become an apathetic voter at this rate. Viva la Pirate Party!

I was extremely shocked. I wouldn't say I've lost respect for him, after all his political opinion doesn't impact what he does for science, but certainly part of me died inside.

Maybe everyone should watch his newest video. Pat explains why he is a single issue voter (no, it's not immigration).

if the bigger parties showed more backbone and take some real action on immigration, i think pat would vote for that party. Its the same thing that happened in the Netherlands.
Why else do you think Geert Wilders gotten so many votes? its not because he says nice things, but because he dares to touch on issues that most politicians won't.

but there is a hidden message which is important.
use you vote, even if you think it won't matter. especially for small parties.

I would argue that people like Wilders and parties like UKIP, take general ignorance of the population and turn non-issues into massive problems. Then claim that the major parties aren't addressing them, when really there are more pressing issues.

Take the 'Islamification of Europe', load of tripe. People like Geert Wilders just thrive on scaremongering in order to gain power.

He should be a Tory.

On 'real action against immigration'. I honestly don't think it's as much of an issue as UKIP are making it out to me. Locking borders for five years is a pretty crap idea.

I think this is interesting, it's not just ranting and opinion, Coughlan666 always seems to be careful to sprinkle verifiable evidence throughout his videos:
