What a cheerful world we live in. According to this Chicago Tribune article, the owners of the Twin Towers (WTP) are going to sue American and United Airlines for damages caused by the 9/11 attacks. The reason for this is the negligence of the airlines to stop the attack. Maybe we should sue WTP for building such tall buildings knowing fully that an airplane could fly into it. That sounds like negligence to me.

They have lost a serious amount of income from the event - but that's not the fault of the airlines, but of the reconstruction committee that the City of New York forcefully placed on the owners.
Originally, they were planning to just build another tower the same as the last one - but 'Mericuh stepped in and said that there had to be a memorial, and that they couldn't just build ANY building there.
Plus, this one had to be terrorist-proof as well as beautiful (the owner wanted to make the new one out of concrete and steel so it physically can't happen again).

The problem here is that the City of New York still doesn't have the replacement building up due to it's direct interaction with the owner of the land. It's been well over 10 years - that's 10 years of lost profit that was in the scale of billions annually.
