NYC Dept. Of Education Wants 50 ‘Forbidden’ Words Banned

The word "dinosaur" made the hit list because dinosaurs suggest evolution which creationists might not like, WCBS 880"²s Marla Diamond reported. "Halloween" is targeted because it suggests paganism; a "birthday" might not be happy to all because it isn't celebrated by Jehovah's Witnesses.
I pulled this from newyork.cbslocal.com. It sounds like bullshit, but I've read the same story on CNN and Fox.

Any thoughts on this subject? I believe there is a similar thread to mine somewhere on here, but I want to know what you

guys think. Isn't this stuff too crazy to actually happen?

I know, I know, I'm sorry. Stuff like this concerns me and I saw that the other thread wasn't getting much feedback. I thought the story would get more publicity if I put it in this section.

Nuke America, it's the only way out of this mess...

(is this an April Fool's joke?)

Sadly, no. This story was in the news a few days ago, it was also on pharyngula.

I would like to add some more words to the list.

I hate the word "gooey" because it sounds stupid.

I don't like the word "ginormous". It doesn't look right and it sounds dreadful. As a word it should never have been.

I also don't like the word "christmas" because I once knew a person called Chris and I didn't like him.

My guess is, if we all have our way, we will only be able to communicate via the medium of dance.

i wouldnt worry too much about it.
Back in the day, here in the UK we had the loony left, they were forever coming with stuff just like that.
Now today we often get stories of the same kind of loony ideas being pushed on us from europe. We have stories of the health and safety culture gone mad when children had to wear gogles to play conkers.
if i recall, the conkers story was a protest against the health and safety culture, but then the story was reported as an illustration of how the health and safety culture had gone mad.
Most of these stories only have legs because they have been grossly mis reported by the media

I don't like dancing, so that's out.

One thing we could do is send letters to the Department of Education asking for the banning of common used words and saying it causes offense. If they want to ban certain words out of offense, any word can be banned. By asking to ban common used words like "it" they might understand that it is ridiculous.
