My first ever Cookies!

I made sugar cookies! I made a couple of trial runs first, as the finished product, were planned for a huge family reunion/birthday party, so I needed to make sure I could actually make the damn things...

My first evar batch - Tuesday morning - went a little wrong, as I was not only making cookies for the first time evar, I was also using my oven for baking for the first time evar (I've lived in this house about five months....) so didn't know how the oven reacted yet XD

Still, my test sub.. friends, nommed them all happily enough XD

The second - Tuesday afternoon - batch? I burned the first load into the oven and undercooked the second load... XD oops!

My third attempt - Friday afternoon - went much better! Perfectly baked cookies!

Now that I had some perfectly-ish baked cookies, I had to decorate!

The circle cookies were my practice batch, as I had never, evar, iced anything before... XD

The yellow icing was lemon flavoured ^^ And the theme of the party was 'Sunflowers' - so I attempted to make the cookies look like sunflowers XD

I was going to do the hearts in red icing - but I mixed it up, and it looked like congealed blood, so decided to go with white instead XD The white icing was left unflavored, but I added silver sugar-balls for that extra decoration ^^

So there we have, my first evar attempt at baking cookies, and my first evar attempt at decorating cookies XD
I intend to bake cookies more often from now on XD and I intend to perfect the art of decorating them XD
If anyone wants the recipe, I'll put it up ^^


Oh - and I took them to the reunion/party today and they were very well received and nommed by all present XD

Just a nitpick: It is often better to cook cookies (or anything else that you cook in batches) that are of roughly equal dimensions, so they all cook at the same rate. It looks like you varied the size a bit on some batches. Some recipes are less sensitive to under- or overcooking, but as a general rule it is hard to go wrong.

On a less critical note, I would definitely eat those cookies.

Each of the 'shapes' were cooked seperately, but the thickness of the dough within each batch was hard to get the same - I tried! I hope to do better next time XD It was also a fan-asist oven, so I had to learn where to place the tray in it to keep things even - I ended up turning the tray every couple minutes!

Obviously, I will keep trying and hopefully perfect this art XD
