When does my warning level go dooooooooooooooooown?

Jokes aside, I've yet to find a proper citation for how long warning levels stick. As cool as my Level Up makes me feel, and as much as I'd love to write a script that displays it in my signature, I'd like to know when it goes down officially.

Default warning duration is 90 days with this board software; however it can be altered by admin to be any duration from 1 day to never.

In a default installation, warning status is only visible to admins and moderators, so I doubt you could write a script that displays it in your sig.

In all seriousness though:

I'm just a chat mod so take my words with a grain of salt. We're pretty laid back on the matter of warning/banning. I think the general view is that in order to earn an actual warning and not just a finger waggling, you've got to go against the spirit of the site(or spam, threaten, etc). Since our purpose is to not only allow but to facilitate and encourage argumentation, it has to come down to personal insults or outright trolling to get a warning. I can't see what you got one for, but I don't picture you threatening anyone or spamming, linking porn, or any of that.

Which means that whatever earned you your warning was either an uncalled for personal insult or you were trolling in some fashion. Again, I don't know, but I wouldn't be proud or brag about either of those. I know you're smarter than to sink to either of those in a discussion.

And I have no idea what the duration is, but I thought I would chime in and say I don't think it's cool to look at it as 'leveling up' - if anything, I think addressing it as such shows a lack of comprehension of the reason for the warning in the first place, indicating that it did not do its job and that perhaps further action is not only appropriate but required. What do you think?
