...if anyone were to actually figure out the universe, it would promptly pop out of existence and something mindbogglingly more bizarre will take its place.

And there is another theory that states this has already happened. Gotta love Doug.

Regardless of how improbable the series finale was I still maintain it was far superior and made more sense than Jesus Doctor who towing the Earth home, and I also like the fact Moffatt left the ending open. We still have no idea what caused what and I like that. Multi-series arcs FTW!

I don,´t know the last season seemed kinda weak compared to the others.
That's because they were unsure whether they'd get to make Season 5 so a lot what was planned for season 5 was shoehorned into season 4. Season 5 was made on a lower budget for a different channel with most of the story arc finished and suffered accordingly. Just another fine sci-fi show to be maimed by the idiocy of US TV show execs...

I've never watch Babylon 5, mostly just to annoy my sister who loves it.
You really should. The whole show is a multi-series arc.

I keep meaning too but I never get the chance. Though I am a fan of Star Trek DS9 which I know get's a lot of flaming for 'ripping off' babylon 5 somewhat, but the arcs in that were well done I thought.

Indeed. Apparently J Michael Straczynski pitched B5 to the trek executives and they turned him down, before mysteriously coming up with DS9 on their own... Anyway I did like DS9, but B5 is way better IMO.

i have heard of B5 but never had time to watch it.
What is it about?

The past, the future, the present, the war of the heavens and the secrets of angels, the depths of despair and the hope that never dims, but mainly, most often, it's about politics

...and unrequited love. Never forget the unrequited love.

Doctor Who suffered a similar fate.
After Peter Davidson had said his farewell and left the role of the doctor in the hands of Colin Baker the show started spiraling downwards, basically it got a producer that didn,´t really care about the show that plus writers that stared to write down to the doctor and just wanting the show to end.
And so to no fault of Colin Baker (if you hear him reprise his role as the sixth doctor in big finish audio play you really get a sense of what could have been) the show entered a period of the worst episodes ever.

When Sylvester McCoy took over as the seventh Doctor the show started to improve a little but it was too little and far to late and the show got scraped.

I haven't watched much of McCoy's episodes but I did watch 'Remembrance of the Daleks' recently and my overwhelming conclusion was that the script was terrible.

Yes it might have been, but if you watch an episode called Silver Nemesis you will find that the story (compared to the previous Doctor Who stories) have gotten much darker and so have the doctors personality.
They where building up hinting at the Doctor being something far more then just another time lord.

If you read this article you,´ll get a sense at where they where heading with it.

I do hope that they,´ll pick it up again i think it would be a great place for the show to go.

I haven't watched old Dr Who since the 80's but I grew up watching the end of the Tom Baker era and those that followed, along with some re-runs of the previous doctors. I remember thinking that McCoy was better than Colin Baker at the time, but I was only a kid... I remember loving the line he had just after his regeneration when he was still coming to his senses: "Time and tide melts the snowman!" I never lost my taste for dodgy wordplay...

Thing is, the whole 'reloomed' thing as put forword in Lungbarrow has pretty much been rendered non-canon by recent series. You can't really assert the Time Lords were sterile and resorted to reproducing with technology en mass if you have The Doctor running around telling everyone he used to be a dad and with the massive hints that the woman in The End of Time was his mother.
