a lot of times i just can't things done simply because my thoughts strife of to well stuff. You know books, movies, daily stuff, the stupidity of mankind.
But it really gets annoying sometimes when i just need to sit down and get shit done and my mind just can't stop wandering off.
Has anyone an idea how i can focus my mind a bit better?

That said, it may also be ennui, which is not unusual among us, and in no event should be defined as mental illness. Everyone struggles as it is paramount to living a full life - and only you can make the distinction.

Think actions since doing so compels one to do a specific task. When thinking of actions, and I mean what one wants to do; the actions must be very specific. For example, if I want to read something, I imagine myself reading the book I want to read, one word at a time, touching the pages, defining the terms, etc.

I've had procrastination problems for years. For ever, even, probably.

What tends to motivate me is stuff like: deadlines, authority, achievement, competition.

For instance, if there's an exam looming over me, I can be a bloody study monster.
If I have a deadline that other people than myself are dependent on, I get shit done.
If those other people are an authority, then my ass is on fire.
If there is achievement (clear, visible, not just "a personal feeling of achievement") involved, I'll spend frigging hours on end trying to beat a computer game.
If I'm competing, I'll exert myself beyond what's reasonable... and I'm talking stuff like, seeing someone riding their bike in front of me; I just get an urge to overtake them, to do better.

So yeah, if I can "trick" myself into one of these position when I need to get something done, then it usually works fine.

Doing it can be hard, though.

This is a problem we both share, my friend -
but one I don't intend on getting rid of. Sometimes you just need to quit resisting, and let your mind map it's own journey. Sometimes, that's all my mind really needs the break, so I just let it run it's own course. After it's done and worn itself out, I can focus on things better...
It's happened during a session in the field once. I threw on some headphones under the helmet, put it on, and spent a half-hour on a device that should only have taken 10 minutes max (they didn't know that, though - so it's all good).

However, as Evolution has shown us, when it gets down to the nit-grit of survival and those intense moments you'll find that you can concentrate extraordinarily well.
