Lies vs. opinion

no, you're expressing something that in fact, *isn't* your opinion- something that is the opposite of your opinion. at best perhaps something you wish were the case... but no, i don't see how stating something you believe not to be the case can be considered an opinion. of course its really hard to tell that from observing the person but... thats rather the point of lying isn't it? hehe

Opinion: a belief that cannot be proved with evidence, a subjective statement and may be the result of an emotion or an interpretation.
Lying: the deliberate act of deviating from the truth

Both are something completely different.

The reason I asked the question is that I've come across the view that lies can be defended as opinion.
