A weekly affair eh? Should be fun. I imagine there will be quite a turnout, since thunderf00t himself has plugged it.

This is going to be awesome. Is there any way you could record the audio and put it in a podcast format in the same way TAE do? I tend to listen to their show on the way to work in the car and it would be great to do the same thing with the LOR show.

Best of luck for tonight guys.

Are you also going to be posting an audio-only version of the show somewhere (like A-E does)??? I can rarely watch the A-E live and occasionally watch the clips, but the audio version is good while walking or when riding my motorcycle.

I second that idea, podcasts on iTunes perhaps?

The descision to opt out from the debate with Neph was the right one,as I preposed on the Thunderfoot YouTube vid.
It seems quite obvious to me that to debate him would be a futlie exercise-even worse it may come across as an episode of Blackadder in which the cretinous Baldrick gets thrown an isult way above his understanding.

Nephilim was the one who opted out initially. He kept changing his mind on the various rules and things. Eventually it was apparent that nephilim wasn't going to debate on a level playing field-he eventually demanded that the whole thing be done exclusively on ShockOfGod's radio show, where the creationist side would be able to silence the atheist side as soon as the debate turned against the creationists. So DonExodus2 put down an ultimatum saying that he would be on blogTV and Nephilim was free to join him if he wished. Which is how we ended up here.

So what's the general consensus?

Personally, I thought the panel were very clear in their views and expressed them well, although the moderation was sloppy (I gather this will be one of the first issues cleared up by the next episode :) ). I understand that DPR had quite a difficult time what with the calls/messages etc so there's no blame, just an obvious kink that'll be ironed out with some experience. I thought, probably because of the difficulties of moderating a conversation internationally, that when TruthfulChristian (Blessings be upon his pinecone) was on, it was obvious that all the panel wanted to pounce at once and tried to do so.
It might be handy if the callers (or moderator) ask which member they're directing the question at then a round of other opinions after to avoid the clash.

All in all, it was pretty enjoyable, despite the technical issues. I look forward to the next episode.

Well done, guys.

Agreeing with Prole mainly here. DPR was juggling calls and moderation when it should have been two separate people.

Over all an awesome show and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I watched the TruthfulChristian clip uploaded by OGJimbo and thought it was a little excessive. I realize that not all people are as objectionable as TC (although many are), but it was a little annoying to hear 4 people shout every time he said something irrational. If I wanted to see silly people being interrupted before they can say anything funny, I'd watch the Atheist Experience. It's a lot easier to sort out what's happening on their show because of the visual component and the use of a mute button. With neither of those present and too many people to begin with, it turned into a raucous.

While a large celebrity panel was great to promote the idea, I'm sure they realize (or at least learned) that a panel that big is detrimental. Personally, I would rather hear half the people twice as much. With fewer people, the probability of an accidental interruption drops significantly and I'm sure it's much less intimidating for any potential callers as well. The other advantage of splitting the panel is that you can create more shows and get creative with the pairings.

Anyways, I won't get too tough or share all my recommendations since I know you guys are just fucking around.

My idea for improving the moderation issue is to have dpr focus on the calls/messages coming through on skype and each week nominate a different member of the panel to function as host with the rest being co-host. The host takes the lead in addressing any questions or they can turn it over to people who they think are more experienced on the topic. The host also decides when to say goodbye to the caller.

A very enjoyable show. Definitely room for improvement, but for something that had to be organized in the time it did; I thought it was great:)

I lol'd heheXD Speaking of TC, am I the only one that had respect for him for having the balls to stand up to some of the most intelligent folks on YT? I mean, he had the moxy to do what Neph could not..despite the staggeringly ignorant things that ejaculated from his pie hole..

arg-fallbackName="Prolescum"/>
Well I guess you could say that, but experience with TC has tainted my view of whether it's cojones or unwarranted self importance that drives him...

I say they should try to cycle the moderator's role every week, so we can get DPR in these discussions every once in a while.

Truth be told, I think DPR's experience as a lawyer has granted him impeccable skills in logical analysis. He could probably argue topics on creationism as well as most of the panel solely on his ability to detect bullshit and present concise arguments more akin to presenting a case than debating an individual.

I know I've been kissing his ass the whole post, but I think it's worth pointing out. Without him, this wouldn't have gone nearly as smoothly as it had.

On another note.

I think you guys need to re-challenge Nephilimfree. It's good that you've tried and tested out the mechanics of the show, now you can show him that he'll get a chance to speak his case without getting (too) trampled to death. It wont be unfairly edited like his paranoia was telling him (check out his videos, he's convinced that having this on blogtv was your evil trap of doom).

You managed to utterly annihilate Truthfulchristian with this format. His confidence in boasting about his intellectual superiority over "evolutionists" has temporarily been paused. His typical after-debate-response is to shout from every rooftop that he pwned you all. That he held his own and wiped the floor with those "atheists".

Not this time. His apparent lack of boasting is very telling.

Y'all need to collaborate on a new video, specifically calling out Nephilimfree. You can showcase the format of your show for his benefit, maybe quickly summarise why his earlier actions fucked up the first debate. Basically mirror his initial challenge back to him. The best part is he can't claim you'll back down and hide given that the show will happen with or without him. Question his authority and credentials, hell challenge him on his geocentrism. Entice him with the possibility to get a face off with youtube's biggest "evolutionists". If he's so damn confident that he understands science more than you guys, than beating you should be no problem for him. At the very least, showcase that failing to do so undermines his so called confidence.

With VFX's self destruction and Geerup's hibernation, he's basically the #1 creationist left on youtube. With you guys joining forces like this, you can pwn them back to the stone age where they belong.

Love the show, keep up the awesome work.

I think you are on to something there. The main issues with the show from my point of view was everyone talking over everyone else, that and that sometimes things got a bit agressive.

Having a central person who takes the call, assigns it out to other people and then signs off would be a great way to deal with this issue.

Also make use of the facilities in skype more. Set up a chat group with all the presenters on the show. That way if one person is talking and someone else wants to add something they can just send a message and everyone will know. That way the person talking can hand over in a more professional manner.

This would also enable the various presenters to drop each other messages and advice without having to actually speak to them for everyone to hear. This might also help with the times when some of the presenters let their passions run away with them. A reminder to take a breath or to let the caller speak, even if just to give them enough rope to hang themselves, might help matters. I completely understand why it happened, heck I do it all the time myself, but there were times when the powerful well thought out arguments of the various presenters were lost beneath the angry voices and everyone talking at once.

Other than those two small points, and some technical issues which I am sure will be resolved, I thought the show was an overwhelming success. It was great having this wide range of people who are clearly all very well versed in their fields coming together to answer questions. Looking forward to the next show.

Also is their a League member who has experties in areas such as theology or philosophy? This might add an different aspect to the group which is currently coming from a very scientific point of view...not that this is a bad thing of course.

Oh and Podcast it so I can listen in the car.

The idea of a podcast seems to be a popular one. If it is all being recorded via PrettyMay then it shouldn't, I'd have thought, be too hard to convert it to .mp3 and put it up on iTunes. In fact, if it were to cost a small amount to download it, then it could help pay for the website's upkeep and give Sporky a bit of a break.

arg-fallbackName="Tarrin4ever"/>
Bah, ignore my earlier post. DonExodus2's newest video has achieved so much more.

I wasn't aware he had so much data and evidence of Neph's bullshitting.

Is there a full recording other than the videos on youtube? I'd love to get my hands on it if it exists.
