League Of Reason Blogging?

Alright guys, I have a way we can not only spark up interactivity on the Forums - but to gain new members as well. And drive traffic to the Blogs.

We could create a blogging section for the League Of Reason that is separated by author (like FTB manages itself), and we invite the internet community to join in exchanging thoughts and ideas in response to our own bloggers. We invite some names (I'd like to think c0nc0rdance would be enjoying. So would some others) and give them something the benefit many places won't:
The freedom to have a shitty opinion - as long as they are willing to accept professional critique and discussion.

That, alone, would spark up our Debate section. The Blogging sections. And general forum activity.

As of right now, our blog is basically sitting and gathering dust (in nicer terms than most), and I frankly think that's a lack of potential to drive traffic back to the page itself.
Increased Traffic = Increased Viewership of the Show = Increased Activity in the Forums

This would also be fueled by the little internet drama that FTB has done by all but making itself an A+ circlejerk. There's going to be a need in the community, and we can pick up on it as a site with, already, a reputation for the exchange of intellectual thought and reasoning. If users are looking for something better, we can give them what they want.

It's nice to see someone bring up this issue as it would be great to see more people participating in the various aspects of LoR. I'm a little confused as to exactly what your are suggesting though.

I understand what you mean by having multiple blogs but who do you think should write them? Are you suggesting show members, forum members, or inviting new guys to write the new entries? I can't quite tell exactly what you mean.

From my perspective there were two problems with the blog.
A: It was set up as a way to record and reflect on YouTube censorship issues, once YouTube fixed these problems the original reason for the blog disappeared.
B: The topics that then started to be written about were more general but everyone on the forums tended to agree with the content so it didn't spark much discussion.

I think if there is a plan to reactivate the blogging aspect of this website the content issue needs to be addressed. One option might be to focus on free speech and censorship issues that spring up around the world maybe with an emphasis on internet/technological examples like YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, Google, etc.

Content is the key here. What content did people like in the past and what would they like to see in the future?

Think of it like this:
This is the League of Reason. In it, we have people with the propensity to create decent content. Prole pretty much can use it to toss out info about the Show, and other related issues.
It would be a networking concept where we could give people who already create content on YouTube, or who love to write, their own spaces to make more content and to further discussion. For example, I'd happily throw out my time as a religious person watching the world of internet atheism, and other heavy matters of philosophy or whatever I think of that people may like. Or, directly, what they don't like in order to make a point about a vital subject.
The Young Historian has legendarily verbose yet intimately detailed sections that host lines upon lines of history - something that can literally not be beaten in it's area of sources, research, and citation.

I'd like to think that people have a propensity to contribute many, many things as long as they have a place to say it.

We can ring in other YouTubers, or general persons, the opportunity to participate and that (in and of itself) would bring in more users and have them able to discuss their ideas. And their fans would probably enjoy the company of our likes (or, well, not - but I've found that kind of discussion makes for the best discussion. Look at any thread where two viewpoints literally clashed and you'll see that user generated thoughts and content are just fucking brilliant on both sides... Or, well, at least one side moreso than the other).

Blogging is sort of it's own area of politics. You network with other blogs, and you cross-reference ideas.
And many people will speak simply because they've been given a stage to speak. And, well, what more can be said?

There's already some activity happening behind the scenes for revamping the site; blogging included. I'd have a word with Prole about it.

AronRa and ZJemptv are both contributors at FreeThoughtBlogs and members here. If they ever get tired of the A+ circle jerk, they can start blogging here. I for one would be much happier to see them here then at FreeThoughtBlogs. I have never been a fan of FreeThoughtBlogs and only go there to read AronRa's. If ZJemptv started posting here I would start to read hers too (I love her videos).

Alright.

And I agree - the only reason I ever read FTB is when someone's either bitching about it, or when I notice AaronRa has been up to his best of best writing.
(Call me mental, but I always read what he writes in that epic monotone low-dragging serious voice he has at times)
