Julian Assange granted asylum by Ecuador

The general social media. Julian has become a celebrity while Manning has been locked up in a military prison for a few years...

Some very pertinent information has come from Wikileaks, but also a lot of drivel. Maybe Wikileaks should campaign a bit more for justice?

Ah. Well that's definitely not in the US. Over here, both Manning and Assange = Bin Laden in the eyes of the media, big private interest, and politicians. Seriously, the word "Terrorist" comes up often when discussing either of these 2 individuals.

That is so terrible that I don't know what to say. Just north on the Canadian border...

So I've heard he isn't even charged with anything.

That's because there hasn't even been the chance to charge him with anything. The coward fled.

As I understand it, in the Swedish system, a charge comes towards the end of the investigation, as opposed to the UK or US (I believe). Here in the UK, you have to be charged within a given time period, which can be extended under certain circumstances. I think it's 72 hours.

I agree that he shouldn't have left Sweden in the first place (I wouldn't have were I in his shoes until I was certain my name was cleared), but IIRC he was allowed to leave because the initial judge (or whomever deals with such things) dismissed the case.

So why have they changed their mind about him and want him back in Sweden for questioning?

Afaik, one of the reasons Assange is trying to avoid extradition to Sweden is because he's afraid that he's going to be deported from Sweden to the US and that the reopening of his case was politically motivated and enforced on Sweden by the US. Once he's shipped from Sweden they can do with him whatever they want. It's not like the US gives a flying shit about human rights. He could be detained indefinitely, tortured and/or executed.

Could there be any truth in this?

Here's some background

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/dec/17/julian-assange-sweden

I don't really buy the conspiracy angle, but there's really no way at the present time to be certain of anything. The world is in a weird place at the moment.

I certainly disapprove of the actions described by the two women, if true. If untrue, I certainly disapprove of the actions of the two women.

There's a lot of people claiming that they bragged about having sex with him on facebook... Problem is that I don't think either side is above fabricating evidence. If people are going out of their way to harass women, without even checking to see if they are the correct target, this actually happened, I don't see it as to far fetched.

Looks like the US "Judicial" system really does have plans for Mr. Assange... Supporting Wikileaks and/or Assange = aiding 'Murika's enemies.

I'll just leave this here:
