JesusWeen is here!

So a pastor in my city has created JesusWeen for Christians who don't celebrate Halloween. He and his followers give out Bibles instead of candy so children can spread the word of the gospel, and they are against the evil in Halloween...so he doesn't want the kids to dress up like ghosts, vampires, ghouls, werewolves, etc etc.

Here's some stuff from the website:

Q: Is it your objective to hijack Halloween and replace it with Jesus Ween?

A: No, that is not the objective. The objective is to spread the gospel and expand the kingdom of God here on earth. Jesus Ween is an alternative for anyone who chooses not to celebrate Halloween, and especially for most Christians. Many Christians are not knowledgeable about the spiritual implications of some aspects of Halloween which is why we encourage them to choose Jesus Ween, the Godly alternative on October 31st. Jesus Ween is about celebrating life not death.

Also check out the benefits for children participating in JesusWeen! Spreading the word is FUN! http://jesusween.com/benefits

Sounds like an "alternative" that "most Christians" only enjoy in public parks after dark, and airport restrooms. Good to see some of them coming out of the closet about their love for ween.

I love how they throw that "most Christians" part in there. As if you're average Christian would come anywhere near this putrid afterbirth of a holiday.

But I guess they're just not "True Christians.â„¢"

I suggest we make a holiday and call it Joeween. It is a holiday where we all go out and act like ImprobableJoe by acting like assholes towards dumb religious people. :p

If it is Joe Ween, you have to act like a giant DICK.

I'm down with improving my phallic behavioral resemblance, who says I don't take the opportunity to learn and grow when I can?

 What would we hand out to the children on Joeween?

I want to create Darween and hand out Origin of Species.

Hand out the actual origin of life. A stinking, toxic, acidic mess! [ ... ]
I suspect that that may be a highly simplistic versification of Abiogenesis. :p

How about we give out bibles for free with a 50 page introduction on why the bible is false? But we actually use accurate information in the introduction.

Now that sounds like a plan

So apparently the pastor had 200 Bibles to hand out. I think It's entirely unreasonable for them to expect anything to come of this. Kids like candy and dressing up. Most would care less about telling the world about Jesus.

I can remember when I was young, at halloween my mum used to put a sign on the door saying

"Sorry, we don't celebrate pagan festivals"

Or words to that effect...

We never had a problem with Easter and Christmas though (which originally were Pagan festivals)

Wow, really? In the UK?

Have I lived some kind of sheltered existence, or are there just not so many crazies in Yorkshire?

blasphemous!
creating an -ween when there is a great holiday called ARONween.
Where people point out absurb and insane falsehoods with detailed explenations and colorfull pictures.
as for clothing, the common outfit is a long haired wig.
the proper vehicle to drive during ARONween is a armored TANK, with which your arguments can be shot to penetrate thick walls of stupidity.

I'm not sure how representative my mother is of the entire UK, she is pretty zealous in her faith though.

For her it was a major issue of concern that I had a Black Sabbath album on cassette... My brother even had to hide a lot of his music cause she wouldn't approve of it...
