iPhone 4: Queuetastic?

My wife in her infinite nuttery queued for a couple of hours yesterday to get an iPhone 4. She wanted it for her birthday (which isn't for another 2 weeks I might add) and like most things, she couldn't wait. Anyway, did anyone else go bonkers and queue up for one?

I am a 3GS owner myself (jailbroken) and the one major enhancement I can see is the screen. It is without a doubt, stunning. When Mr Job$ talked about the "retina display" I thought "yeah yeah ok, I bet it's not that good"... I eat my words, it is that good, unless there is a low resolution graphic, you are hard pressed to see any pixelation with the naked eye and the colours are sooo vibrant.

I admit I like the design of the iPhone 4 but it's not worth me shelling out to upgrade early. Though I dare say I will eventually (or wait for the iPhone 5 lol).

I would hope that this thread isn't going to turn into some sort of flamewar between "fanboys", Apple haters and those who call anyone who even remotely likes an Apple product a 'fanboy' and then goes on and on and on about how great their HTC or other Android based phone is as you're just as bad!

Constructive comments are welcome, either positive or negative, but as usual insults will not be tolerated. I've already seen massive sweeping insults on other boards from people and it's quite sad. People will spend their money on what they like.

Anyway, I will be upgrading to 'iOS' 4 later today or tomorrow but I can see me jailbreaking it as soon as the kinks are worked out of things like Winterboard etc :) As usual, Apple see fit to miss out some fundamental things in the OS.

I'd prefer to order it online and get it shipped tbh.

On a seperate note, when you jailbreak an iphone (i have 3GS with iOS4) can you still sync your iphone and such without getting caught?
This probably isnt the place to be posting this query but oh well.

I've never had a problem and I've been jailbroken for a year. I don't know how good the jailbreak is for iOS 4 so I can't vouch for if it's a good idea to try yet or not.

In terms of marketing, your wife is what we would categorize as an "innovator" under the adoption of innovation curve.

Can't say I ever queue for anything if I can help it except for public transport or at a market buying food. I know some people can't wait, and it is cool having things on day one, but I've never fallen victim to opening day rushes as far as I can remember; I don't mind waiting. Not particularly interested in phones either, tbh - I have a 4 year old SonyEricsson...

Queuing for Apple software basically annonces to the world that Steve Jobs is wearing you like a glove.

Apple? Pfft...

I personally dont see the point in having a phone that does more than contact people via either calling or texting them. I think of those phones as more or less a waste of money, because I have a digital camera with video, a computer, and several game systems, and if any one of those breaks I still have all the others. Plus, I cant stand touch screens, becuase they just get smudgy as hell before too long.
