I'm terrified of Islam

On facebook, a friend of mine linked me a story about his conversion to Islam, he said things about how there is no flaws in the Qur'an and that it is always being falsely portrayed as violent.

I wanted to speak up, but I was absolutely terrified of his relatives who also received his post, and are much more anti Liberal than my friend.


I always consider Islam a very urgent threat for it's adherents unwillingness to put up with what ever they perceive to be blasphemy towards Islam, and their quickness to violence and death threats.

How are we supposed to combat this if things like what happened in Denmark and after the Satanic Verses are an ever present threat?

Perhaps I'm being Islamophobic, but what are your opinions on this and Islam as a whole ?

When you have the government and the media feeding your fear and driving it above and beyond what level it should be at, for almost a whole decade, it is understandable that a lot of folks are afraid. Beyond that, yes the Qu'ran is full of violence and hate. It is as much a religion of peace as Christianity and Judaism. :roll:

Tell me, have western "Christian" nations like America and the U.K. killed less Muslims than Muslim terrorists killed Americans and Brits? Or was it MORE Muslims killed, by a factor of at least 10, and possibly as much as 30 or 40?

Remember, "God' told Bush to invade Afghanistan and Iraq, and many American military and political leaders have very explicitly stated that the so-called war on terror is a holy war between Islam and Christianity.

"Over those Danish cartoons"? Not really true or accurate. Unfortunately, we don't hear about any of the background when riots break out, when the people doing the reporting are the ones who helped promote the negative situations in the first place. It is like when L.A. police beat down Rodney King, and then the cops were acquitted, when people rioted some folks in the media pretended that the long history of police racism and violence didn't exist and black people just rioted for no good reason.

Who is going to be seen as speaking for America and its military with more authority, your "plenty of leaders" or President Bush and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld? How about General Boykin, tasked with hunting down Saddam Hussein, who declared that it was a holy war, and that the American army is the "army of God." Don't tell me that he didn't mean it, or that Christians don't believe that.
