I found out recently that the Pope can choose just about anything he wants as a Papal name, although these days they seem mostly to choose a name that has previously been used.

Looking at a List of Popes on wikipedia, I noticed that there was once a Pope Hilarius, which made me chuckle, but I think I'd have to be...

Pope Nixon. I am not a crook! Only because contributing to the proliferation of HIV in Africa is not currently on the books as a crime.

I do wish Ratzi had chosen Palpatine has his Pope-name though.

Me too! I was saying the same thing to my wife last night when we were discussing this issue. Actually Pope Vader would be a quite good successor to my Lando... "I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further."

Pope Lucretius the first. I like it. (Luka is my first name). They would soon come to realize that electing me was a really bad idea. I may have renamed myself for "Sub-zero" some time after.

Also, I find a name Cornelius funny, especially for a pope, since it means the horned one.

If I was elected pope, I'd call myself by my name. There is no need to change what I'm called, but I'll allow people to add the title of pope in the begining. To illustrate, pope lrkun.
