"I see God's hand in everything"

... said the theist. And I reply:

You see God's work wherever you look? Really? I look around and everything I see is a testament to the wonder of nature and natural processes which developed everything which surround us. You think that just because you perceive beauty that there must have been some creator? The flower, the waterfall, the sunset and the rainbow aren't actually beautiful you know. It's a truck in your mind. You think they're beautiful because they are part of a natural system which sustains your life, which has sustained human and pre-human lives for countless millennia. Essential for survival you appreciate them deeply, and so you should, but they aren't actually here for your appreciation or even your survival. They occur by their own processes and don't care what you think of them. But appreciate them still simply because you can, because you need them, because they brings you joy.

Can't even run for prolonged periods of time without apt training and our organs are in all of the wrong spots. (Alright, they're not horribly placed but they're certainly not positioned at maximum efficiency.)

you know what? the entire universe IS evidence of the divine. The problem is that said evidence is entirely circumstantial. IF there is a divine creator, then all of creation evidences his handywork. if there is not such a creator, then all of the universe is evidence that he is unneccessary for its creation.

this is why circumstantial evidence won't fly in courtrooms.

hmmm, i wonder how that person would react to picture of horror such as horrible deceases, dead animals with their organs spilling out of their body, animals hunting other animals in a wild and very aggressive fashion, etc.. i surely wish to here their opinion on that.

Guess God hates starving African children then.

well of course, the bible clearly shows that, like George W. Bush, God does not like black people

What of the victims of rape? I'm sure quite a few of those are white, a number are probably religious too.

he sees god's handiwork in everything?

so why has this "god" killed off over 98% of all of "his" creations that have ever lived on this planet?

"god" must still be pretty pissed about that whole apple eating incident...damn, that cat carries a serious grudge

Hahah my response would be along the lines of

"I see God's hand in dying children, tornados, train wrecks and flesh-eating diseases. Man that dude is one perverse guy."

Keep in mind,... god is so angry because he is sexually repressed. No bang in (6000  ) millions of years, dang, that guy is MUCH nicer than I would be in the same situation  . I feel sorry for him...

It's very easy to see why people DO see the hand of God. If I didn't know what little I know about the natural world, I'd probably give up trying to figure it out and conclude it must have been created by someone much smarter than me.
