Yeah!

Holy shit!

So, I've just moved from Florida to Virginia. I had my Internet disconnected Wednesday morning, and I won't have Internet here until Monday at the earliest. So I called Verizon to upgrade to the mobile hotspot thing for $20 more a month, so my wife and I could both use our laptops. Verizon said no.

Verizon instead upgraded my 2GB/month cap to
UNLIMITED DATA!!!

Oh, and no extra charge just because it was my birthday. So now I've been grandfathered into unlimited data until 2013, which is excellent since Verizon's 4G network is hooked up here in my new neighborhood.

Here's what my laptop is getting:

I think I'm pretty happy with my mobile provider. Pretty darned happy.

Rofl nice.

I had to manhandle a 140lb microwave dish up a 90 ft utility pole and that's getting 10MB down 2MB up right now. Not bad for the middle of the desert...

I use T-Mobile and disguised my Tethering application as the application "Bubble Pop" that I had purchesed, then deleted, from my phone. But, then again, I have unlimited data anyways, and I've only used it several times in my life to show something off on my laptop when not a hotspot was to be found.

Then again, I'm a cheapscape and I already have a max-bandwidth internet at home.

When I go out to town, I normally like to do stuff in town - except for that time I took my female companion to Starbucks for a date and kepts asking random strangers for their input into a fictional book and got out a full chapter of barely coherent ideas.

Jesus, that's insane...

Yeah, but that's tethered off my phone. My actual hardline Internet should creep up to somewhere close to 100Mbps. You know, just because.

Yeah, but I'll bet you get alien transmissions with that thing!

Ummm... yeah, cool. If I had home Internet right now, I wouldn't be burning through my phone's battery like this. Gotta wait until Monday.

Your droid should charge when plugged into your computer.

1) Download "Android App Killer" - bitch kills processes like a champ over your measly task manager could ever hope for. And you can set it to autokill every so often to keep it from running unnecessary shit.
2) After playing with it, set your phone to "Power Saver Mode" with low lights and cut-to-black screen after so often of inactivity.

Your phone will last longer.

Sure, but sometimes I'm on the phone in another room while my wife is using the hotspot capability to surf the net.

Yeah, but not much longer. I can't wait for my home network to be set up. The phone battery lasts FOREVER on home-based wifi access.

*ETA* Charging on the USB port, and it is still dying. Crap.
