I believe the same goes for bananas, but not completely sure about this. The cucumber curvature law has saved billions in transportation costs as they are often shipped half way across Europe. Shipping 10 tons of air in a 25t truck is neither economical nor environmental.

Fear the fool which hasn't taken a civics class. Governments are at least attempting to learn from past mistakes.
