I've found them to be a surprisingly friendly lot.

Most seem to picture them collectively as teeth gnashing psychopaths, when in reality almost all of them are almost entirely normal, with the minor deviations from the norm that results in any extreme political stance.

Let's see... Coming from the wikipedia article, the ideology is fascist, nationalist, militarist, racist, eugenic, homophobic, and religious... The only one of those that isn't bad is eugenic, but the fact that it's also with racist and homophobic clearly shows that it's the bad kind of eugenic. You could throw in "sexist," but it would otherwise be hard for Nazism to be worse.

One idea that I've heard attributed to them is that they believe there's a finite ammount of happiness in the world. Therefore, in order for people to be happy, they had to take it from someone else, and if someone was happy, they stole it from someone else. Thus the purge of "lesser races" so people could have their happiness back. I'm not entirely sure of this, and it could be completely false, but I trust the history teacher who was my source, as he explained quite a few religions and political ideas and was consistant with other sources as far as I remember... Wasn't in the wiki article that I saw.

This is the closest to a subjective question with an objective answer you can ever hope to find.

Was this a real question?

Not really. It was an emotional reaction to some objectionable stimulous. Sorry.

I think I know what you mean, and if I do then I couldn't agree with you more. :)

Vote not cast-
I hate what they say, the message they present, their violence, and the views upon others for simple matters such as differences. It disgusts me to no end...

But-
I'd defend their right to spew their filth and hate to the end of my life. :|

Hmm! I don't know about this one, I just can't decide! :?

...Definitely against. But I see that 3 people voted "for". To those people: why?
I am for them in the sense of free speech and everyone has the right to their own political veiws

That looks like a very reasonable opinion.

I tend not to feel about neo-nazis. In fact, I tend to avoid them all together.

Seriously though, I think they should be allowed to say what they do, but we must draw the line when those beliefs start to actually harm people.

I generally don't. Being related to quite a few, when I must think or feel about them, I feel disgust.

I'm against them.
How do you mean exactly? Am I against their right to exist as a group or their right to their opinion as Nazis? Absolutely not. How do I feel about them personally? I'm mostly indifferent. Their beliefs? Of course I'm absolutely against core Nazi beliefs, but I really don't care at all, given they have no real political influence on any part of my life directly or indirectly.

Sorry if this comes of as assholelish, but what does it even matter? Nazism is a completely defunct and bankrupt ideology supported by a reactive fringe in society, which, while managing to be loud and high profile, holds little actual power. Unless I missed the boat and the National Socialist Party is suddenly back in vogue, the best response to Nazis seems to be disdain, mockery, and frequent appearances as adversaries in comic books and video games. Civility demands we don't punish them for thought crime, but that doesn't mean we have to bother with their brainless antics. Now, if they vandalize something, or attack someone, then we charge them with a crime and cage them with the other individuals unfit to exist in society, but until then, just ignore them.

So how about a third option in the poll: Who gives a shit what Nazis think?

I think the poll was started to make a point, but regardless, the question is relevant to Hate Literature legislation, which is relevant to many places in the world (including Canada).
In Canada, advocating genocide or inciting hatred[6] against any 'identifiable group' is an indictable offence under the Criminal Code of Canada with maximum terms of two to fourteen years. An 'identifiable group' is defined as 'any section of the public distinguished by colour, race, religion, ethnic origin or sexual orientation.' It makes exceptions for cases of statements of truth, and subjects of public debate and religious doctrine.
