Did he say anything of the sort? The Muslims in those videos are bastards. They are part of a culture and legal system that is abusive to women. These things are plain as day, there's no need to dilute them with sweeping generalizations that aren't as true.

No, Kenandkids did not say so, but the already generalised tone of his OP felt to me as though he was leading somewhere,......but let's examine the videos, and the Youtube channel they were posted on, for a moment.

Also note the number of FOX News videos in the uploads, and note that they are not presented ironically, or debunked.


Next,....the footage in the videos themselves jumps where edits have been made, and in the second video (at least) I can easily see how the context might be very different depending on the content of the excised portions.


Next,....the translation of the Arabic is attributed to Memritv, their logo appears on the footage.

All of this leaves me with many doubts as to the veracity of the videos, the level of bias of the persons who edited and translated the videos, and the level of bias and sceptical abilities of the person who posted them on Youtube.
Add to this that we have seen wave after wave of anti-Muslim/anti-Arabic propaganda over the last 10yrs (if not longer), and I think my original question is quite legitimate.



Finally,.....Kenandkids, what I wrote was not an accusation, but a question. If being asked that question upset you in any way, then all I can do is assure you that it was not my intention to slander you, or cause you offense.

Thank you for bringing these issues to light. I had wondered myself how accurate the translations were but didn't think to look at the news source.

Still, the attitude espoused in the video is hardly without precedent. This one has stuck in my mind as singularly pathetic: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/1874471.stm, and don't get me started on honor killings.

Actually, if you watched the videos, you'd notice that Saudi Arabia was held up as a paragon of societal virtue. If anything, this is a statement against conservatism and regressivism. Mostly I just can't stand people that hit women, and feel this behaviour needs light shown on it. To see it ritualised and made -part of societies fiber is loathsome.
