Homeworld

This game was made by Sierra I think in the late 90s early 00s. It was pretty much 3D C&C with spaceships, and it was awesome (I dont usually make threads about games I hated, for some reason...)

Anybody ever play it? I notice some of the games I bring up it seems nobody's ever even heard of them (or they hate me :cry: )

Absolutely loved this game. Was brilliant, the idea of the massive mothership was great.

Some of the mods people made were cool too... Like the Star Wars total convesion

1998 game of the year and still one of the most innovative and enjoyable gaming experiences around.

Soundtrack didn't hurt either, Agnus Dei is a glorious way to avenge your race of genocide.

I've heard people say they didn't like it, but I also loved the sequel Homeworld: Catacylsm.

You started off with a rather advanced but unarmed mining vessel, set loose a plague on the galaxy, outfit your ship with random weaponry and technology, and become the saviors of Hiigara.

Plus, my favorite quote: "So the miners are now warriors? You have come far little Kiith Somtaaw." "Burn you monstrosity, BURN!"

Apparently they made a few sequels, but I only ever played the original. Are they expansions or standalone sequels?

I heard about this game, but never played it. I am pretty sure it was made by relic and not sierra, though relic sold off the rights to help expand to other projects.

Well homewrold 2 is obviously stand alone, and I'm pretty sure homeworld cataclysm is stand alone aswell.
Now to find my cds of cataclysm, that game is awesome.

I really don't understand why developers haven't improved on that game yet.
I remember people creaming their panties over Empire At War, a game which had spacebattles on a 2D plane. You'd expect that with Star Wars material, you could make an awesome game that plays like Homeworld.
Homeworld was awesome for its day - and it still is - but it just didn't revolutionize the gaming world the way it deserved to.
