Hi!

Can't believe it has taken me 4 years to find a forum like this!

I'm looking for some help.

I never went to college or university but I have taught myself programming and I am committed to life-long learning. Among other things, I want to improve my critical thinking skills. Does anybody have any book/site recommendations?

I watched The God Delusion Debate, and while I understood for the most part, I was frustratingly lost on some critical arguments.

Appreciate any help.

Two things:
1. I apologize in advance if my pope photos frighten you (they are pretty scary, right?).
2. There is another free thinkers site called atheismforums.com, but I must warn you that there are many trolls over there.

Firstly, welcome CreativeCrook (we probably have to know the story behind that moniker...)

Fixed your site name.

I believe the OP was looking for critical thinking resources, not shouty people.

Ahh... but the shouty people and the trolls are the reason I some times go to that site. Its much too civilized here in my opinion. :D
-Plus, they talk about all sorts of crazy shit, and when I say crazy I mean crazy! I need that crazy shit once in a while.

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

If you are looking to read a book on critical thinking I'd highly recommend checking out 'Asking the Right Questions' by M. Neil Browne and Stuart M. Keeley.

I hope that helps.

I was a self-taught programmer for a while before I went to school and formalized my education. Now I'm studying adult development in preparation for a Masters in Education. Welcome to the party! Stop by chat some time, we have a lot of fun.

Thanks for the kind welcome and the helpful links!

I've been reading the forum more today and I'm so delighted to be around mature, intelligent people. I don't think I've seen a single troll yet.

If we were in a certain George Orwell novel, my creativity would be criminalized.
