Has anyone been on Christianforums lately?

I used to go there before, to engage in debate (and sometimes to read completely ridiculous responses), but I've not been able to go there for about a month. Is the site actually down, or did they really ban me from visiting or something?

They banned me several times for starting 'these passages contradict. Can someone explain it to me' threads... something about baiting them? :lol:

I get banned from republic/conservative boards all the time for responding to all their appeals to the bible with the first amendment, Jefferson, and Adams :lol:

It really depends how civil you where really.

If a theist came here and started creating multiple topics like "Have you found jesus to be your personal saviour?" and "Why can't you see that god loves you guys"; He would probably be warned and then banned as well.

There is a very thin line between trying to actively convince people of your opinion and just plain trolling. What I mean by that is that for you it might look like your just starting reasonable topics and arguing in a reasonable way with truth on your side. For them it might just look like your trolling.

I'm certainly not claiming that that is what has happened, but this is something that often goes wrong.

Also we do sometimes forget that they actually believe that shit, for them it is truth. You could just as well be claiming that grass is purple. So like in any good forum debate, you will first have to show that you understand them and understand what they are saying before starting to refute it. Because before they will even listen to what you say they first have to respect your opinion, which is something that has to be earned and can not be required by just being 'right'.

Well, their rules pretty much allows them to ban you for anything and especially that last passage gives them a lot of freedom;

"Brinking
Don't push the boundaries of the rules. Staff will enforce these rules based on the spirit of the text, not the letter."

In combination with the rules on Blasphemy, Disruptive Behavior and Controversial topics you could easily be banned for putting god on the stand and question him or his bestseller. :roll:

It could possibly be simply a cookie that they sent to prevent you from coming back. Delete all your cookies/cache and see if you can return. Also try a proxy if the latter method doesn't work.

Yep, just tried a proxy, and got back on easy. They deleted all of my threads. Goddammit. I wasn't even starting some flame-war or something, and I wasn't troliing. I was asking serious questions, and criticized some responders for not actually answering, but for instead going on about faith.

I always love visiting those forums for a good laugh, proof that the boards discourage thinking:
They only want to talk about earthly things such as money/sport, the mortgage etc.. it does'nt mean they are bad people, just that they are intolerant,self-righteous and fools to themselves for dismissing any faith. They are embarrassed to talk of things exalted from them and prefer to consume their thoughts with short term committments/worries instead of their spiritual well being. The mere thought of someone far more powerful seeing their thoughts and the ways they act terrifies them enough to put God right at the back of their minds where he remains a distant memory while they can concentrate on being selfish and manipulating for their "survival" which they call "life". They can be pleasent enough to engage in small talk but anything beyond this will raise feelings of anger and insecurity. They have not been chosen to have an opinion which really counts and it is best to leave them alone if you can help it. You cannot change their views because God has decided it is not their time. Only he can decide if and when they may see the light that is why the words have been sealed until the end.

Wow, it would be really easy to troll that forum. Make a post like that, then come back 3 months later and be like "my son died and god told me I should kill my husband and myself".... I do not however condone this in any way, it's just what came to my mind (I'm always thinking of how one could break security protocol, once in a while ideas for trolling come to mind, probably in reaction to obvious security vulnerabilities in someone's mind-defense system).

We had a poster like that on another free thought site. He was allowed to continue posting and make a fool of himself.

It's all about what you decide the forum is. If it's a place where only like-minded people can congregate, than announce it's a closed forum. If it's a place where open-debate is welcome, than it's an open forum. You can also combine the two and have some subforums be open and others closed.

The problem I have with Christianforums is their duplicity. They have forums for apologetic debates, announcing that debate is welcome, and then censor any arguments that are too forceful or difficult to argue against. They call it "bashing Christianity" but the term is so relative as to allow them to censor and ban absolutely as they please.

It took me all of three days to be banned from Christianforums. I never posted in any of the forums marked "Christians only" but restricted myself to the apologetics section. I foolishly thought that when they advertise that these are debate forums that they're debate forums.

The reality, I soon learned, is that being a non-Christian on Christiansforums is like being a liberal on Fox News. If you dare to actually argue your position, your mic is cut and security shows you the door.

As I say, if they want to have a Christians-only forum, that's fine. Just have the honesty to say so. Don't pretend that you welcome debate if you don't actually welcome debate.

EDIT TO ADD: By the way, is this an open forum or a closed forum? Are Christians, Muslims and other cultists welcome to post here?

Wait wait wait....am I the only one who sees this??? They are talking about homosexuality in a christian forum...and there's an ad at the top of teh page for ALL GAY CRUISES!!

Please tell me you guys saw it too .......that is just........awesome :D :D :D :D
