Global Warming Real

Well the main thing is that this is an independent study, funded by many climate change sceptics.

Let's see that Monckton wanker claim that all of this lot are communist infiltrators.

I don't even know what to make of this... the fact that my country did an "investigation" by having scientists objectively review other scientists' work.... Some people may be dumb enough to not realize that this is roughly how science already plays out anyway, but they may buy into the "teh srs investigation" aspect rather than the actual scientific process. In the short term, I can accept this mentality. However, the fact that there was already a large enough following of this climate change conspiracy to prompt this investigation is dumbfounding and -- all said and done -- these kinds of conspiracies lately manage to keep going despite all evidence.

C'mon, do you really think Alex Jones is going to get on his radio show, where all of his revisionist/denialist cult following tunes in, and say "Turns out the NWO/commies are not behind a climate change conspiracy to control your brain and body fluids. I'd like to apologize to all the hard working scientists who were actually doing good by informing humanity of the climate catastrophe it will likely find itself in." I'd be utterly shocked if that happened. I don't even think Mockton will be phased in the slightest...

No,...I expect people like that to drop the subject like a hot potato, and then pretend they were never really bothered by it in the first place.

This passage in particular is unambiguous:
  • "I had a chat with Michael Schlesinger, the University of Illinois professor who discovered the AMO (i.e., Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation) along with Navin Ramankutty in 1994.

Research he and others have done since shows clearly, he said, that "while the AMO was the dominant influence on global mean temperature during 1904-1944 and 1944-1976, it is not the dominant influence over the entire observational record, 1850 to 2010.

"Over this time period, it is the increase in the concentrations of greenhouse gases caused by humanity's burning of fossil fuels that is the dominant cause of the observed warming."

Piquant!

The next thing BBC reports ca 2015: "Greenhouse gas effect confirmed by independent oil funded scientists, using high school lab equipment"... And then, ca. 2020: "Fossil carbon footprint confirmed by independent oil funded scientists, using standard radio carbon methods"..., by which time it may well be too late.

Let's examine this diagram, from the link in the OP, in front of our noses as we talk on this (the better to smell the scorched and parched Earth we might expect to have upon us unless we act immediately). It does correlate with the slow train of industrial civilization, now accellerating, as the windmills of our minds climb the upbeat. :)

It will be interesting to correlate this dataset with the Berkeley Earth Project's ocean temperature trendlines. I once referenced the elevated oceanwater pH levels and temperatures that are slowly killing the world's coral reefs, elsewhere on the web. A hideous prospect to see heading our way ...

I am not really moved with the term global warming. I mean yes, there are a lot of changes our planet has gone through but I am not too convinced that it is really something of the level of global warming. You can say that I am just probably closing my mind on such an idea but I just do not see it coming to fulfillment. There are signs or whatever you would want to call them, but not quite.

So you agree that the climate IS changing, right?
There's an increase of what, 0.8 degrees over the last 100 years I think?
So there is change, that change is global and it's getting warmer... What else would it be? Please enlighten me.

You may refer to it as climate change if that helps.

Of course, there are those who call that change global cooling(sic)

That must be like in Australia where you commonly call a guy with red hair "blue"!! Those guys are sooooo witty...
