Glenn Beck

I forgot about this chap, but seeing this satire of the venomous bollocks he pushed, and hearing the same memes being tossed around these days by certain segments of internet peoples... I wonder just how much impact he had on them.

Was he tapping into a feeling and expounding on it, or was he just trotting out, in crazy fashion, an existing set of memes that had already existed?

Satire doing its work.

However, as far as I am aware, Beck had a very healthy audience for quite some time. How much of today's mental dialogue and breakdown of unity can be laid at his feet?

My mom used to watch Glenn Beck's show when he was on Fox News. He was one of the only things on Fox News she would bother to watch, in fact.

From what I understand, she didn't take him too seriously. She knew he was a nutbar, she just found him amusing.

I remember feeling the same way at the time. I didn't really comprehend the shit he was spouting, I just thought he was funny.

He was one of the more entertaining conspiracy nuts I've encountered.
