Gay Marriage

arg-fallbackName="Estheria Quintessimo"/>
I never listened to the Dogma Debate before.

But host David Smalley was on MSS this sunday (4th May '14), so I went to the website and I liked the shows I listened to sofar (just been a few hours).

I listened to episode 120 '"#120 - Anti-Gay Republican v Smalley"

Listen to that episode here:
http://www.spreaker.com/user/smalleyandhyso/anti-gay-republican-v-david-smalley

Personally, this episode shows the danger Atheists are up against. A person that covers up his personal intend, throws over a sauce of political intend, and tries to get in office.

It is clear from the get go of this show, once this person ends up in the office he is running for, he will condone, and try to support the most horrible religious inspired laws, or make his own horrific laws, and set the social cultural development of the free thinking human mind of the average USA citizen back a few decades again.

Well not HIM personally,.... but the cummulative effect of allowing many of these people in office,.... will. Yes they have the right to be in office,.... THAT is why the debate is so important and get the Atheist message out.

Not being in the USA, this does not directly concern me. But it will once the Religious Hordes take over the (still current) most powerful nation in the world, as that will directly impact pollitically for the European partner nations,.... and any other nation that is concidered free thinking and democratic.

Anyway... I'm only halfway listening into this particular show,... and felt the urge to send David a msg on his website, because the whole marriage thing discussed concerned me,... so I send a contact message via the website.

This is what I send in the contact:
Hi David, (ahead of text,... soz for my typo's, I'm Dutch not English)

I first saw you on MSS today and I am now listening to your radioshows. I luv'm what I've listened to sofar. *\o/* !!!

I want to add a comment you should keep in mind for future encounters concerning marriage, though it is my personal opinion ofcourse. I am listening to episode 120 (anti-gay rep vs U).

Marriage is only a matter of State because christian culture made it like that. There are many kinds of unions between the sexes in other cultures, and nothing in Darwinian biology (read Evolution) says, that amongst humans an union between 1 man and 1 woman is the only way to safeguard the propagatian of our species.
In fact, a male's intend would logically be to put his seed in as many females as possible. We see that in nature all the time. And a females intend would be to get the prime seed, from the best male. We did not evolve from monkeys, we are simply one of the Great Ape species,... but we sure like to think with our sexual organs, just as our Great Ape cousins on the Grand Tree of Life do. ;-)

The difference though between us and animals is that we think to much,.. it resulted in culture and civilization, and a conceptual understanding of love. Conceptual, as once a cultural framework has been made, it is difficult to think out-side-the-box. Such things eventually lead to conflicts with other conceptual ideas on these matters. Christians, like this particular republican you had on your show, show that clear dont-want-to-think-outta-the-box mentality.

Love is a construct of our minds. A lot of less brained animals show an understanding of this love concept too, but that is only the basic biology at work there, we simply added a layer of thought on it.

Though there is scientific research and evidence on gayness,... it being just the result of biological processes, it simply needs acceptance, because our human minds simply can not escape the workings of nature, no matter how smart we ourselves think we are, wether we agree with it culturally and/or religiously or not.

Marriage however, is totally a construct of our minds and has got nothing to do with our biological need to make babies. It is made up, and though it can perhaps be justified looking at anthropological history,... there is no biological need to continue it, just a cultural social one. Perhaps bonding a man and a woman together in a union, prevented other male claims wanting that female. So perhaps it was just a simple crowd-control tool in early civilisation, to prevent males bashing eachother heads in:
'This woman and man now belong together, no other claim shall be made on them.'

Anyway that is what I send him... It is my opinion.

What do you guys think?

What do you guys think?

gay marriage is a sin for a very good reason for one thing you cant have your own kids when you think like that and dont marry someone of the opposite sex there are diseases you can get from your partner as a gay couple even with protection, its the same with people that sleep around instead of getting married. be fruitful and multiply is what god says do not marry your own gender.

What diseases can you get from a same-sex marriage that you cannot also get from a opposite-sex marriage?

Polonium poisoning, heroin withdrawal, and Romulan flu. This is precisely the reason I didn't gay marry my girlfriend.

Greetings,

Fear of catching something is why I never got married!!

Prycejosh, is gay marriage a sin or just gay sex? Is it okay if gay people get married but don't have sex?

Also, even assuming it is a sin, what does that have to do with laws on gay marriage? Lots of things that various religions claim to be sins are legal (like adultery). Should these be illegal?

If so, are you really wanting a government to enforce a particular religious interpretation?

Which is pathetic really, given the effort he went to to convince me that he was here for actual discussion. Still, lesson learned.
