"Further Research into Using Chickens as Steadicams"

I waffled a bit on whether to put this here or in Online Video, but decided on here since it is "research". If you strap a camera on to a chicken's head and wave the chicken around, the camera is stabilized. So now we know.

The issue here is, even if they the chicken is stable, how does one make sure that the chicken looks at the intended area. :) Hehe.

But regardless, why? Why observe a camera on a chicken head and why not use a tripod for stability ? How does one figure this out and is this useful if you plan to spin the chicken in circles? Do pigs work too? Just, why?? I guess we need further testing. Lol

Because we can.

For sure. Plus, it facillitates the goal of finding new uses for chickens. ;)

If we can understand how chickens can keep their heads so steady regardless of their body movement (which I think biologists do) then apply these principles to create a technological stabilization device (perhaps a new kind of tripod) that keeps a camera steady regardless of the movement of the base on which the camera + stabilization device is located (such as a moving vehicle or the hands of a person), that could be the next big thing among digital photographers!

Perhaps we should send this to tripod companies rich enough to do the R&D.
