This is an excellent series produced by PBS's Frontline. No.. it doesn't take any religious/anti-religious sides. It is simply the history of religion in the US. Very thorough and very informative. It's one of the best PBS documentaries I've seen in a long time.

Interestingly, the first link to the PBS.org video didn't work initally, but clicking on the second video and then returning to the first got them working.

I've watched four episodes today and I must say, I find them interesting and enlightening. I hope more people do watch, because I feel I've learned something from them. Thankee.

It illuminates a part of the history that is usually glazed over. Next time some Evangelical tries to tell you that there ought not be a separation between church and state, remind them that that wall was erected to protect Baptists from persecution. It was even a Baptists who was the first to use that phrase.
