I am currently extracting carbon (among other things) from a site we excavated last winter. It is not huge, but I believe it to be worthwhile. If that is not enough for you, they just found this as well. In addition, the build up to and all of human civilization fits easily into carbon dating range. Thus, I feel there could literally be tons of worthwhile things out there still, by anyone's standards.
