Flawed Reasoning...Thing...

The following was posted on facebook. I know it's flawed reasoning but for some reason my brain refuses to put my thoughts into words. I think it's the last bit that confuses me the most.

"Things that happen by chance do not owe their forthcoming to science, but probability. Just as some mathematical graphs approach zero but never reach it, how are we to understand the notions of probability when we cannot live long enough to sustain such an infinitely broad research. To understand these concepts we have to go beyond science, because for everything we are unable to control, we fail, and wherever we fail, science fails indefinitely."

That's the argument from ignorance fallacy, right? I can never remember these things.

Oh, and he linked a System Of A Down too.

Hmmmmm,

I understand that this is a gross oversimplification but I figured it could be used as some sort of thought experiment:

1. One group realizes the limitations of such models and uses this information to gather a better understanding of reality.
2. One group either does not realize or doesn't care to realize the limitations of stated philosophy.

I could think of one interesting study that would take those two statements and see how each group classifies themselves and classifies the other group. That would be one interesting study, given enough time I think I could devise a few more interesting experiments given those two statements above.

Just something to think about.
