As those who follow this will no doubt be aware, the anti-Gaddafi forces captured Az-Zayiwah a few days ago. They are now advancing on Tripoli along three fronts. At the closest point, they are just 30 kilometres (19 miles) from the city. Inside the capital, protesters have taken up arms and now control some streets and neighbourhoods. Government forces have supposedly abandoned the main airport.
Some experts suspect Gaddafi is no longer in Tripoli.

The way I see it, this is very good news. If Tripoli falls, the war will become just mop-up operations to finish of the hopelessly-outmatched pro-Gaddafi troops.

I sincerely hope that the UN will provide assistance to the nation and help them set up the new governmental structures.

Well NATO is pretty much obliged to pour in quite a bit of money, since they were pretty much solely responsible for turning the tide back in March. The National Transitional Council needs to get its act together though and form a true government in Tripoli within a couple of weeks of victory, or things might not turn out so well.

Libya's opposition leadership declared Monday that the decades-old regime of Moammar Gadhafi is finished, calling on people to protect lives and property amid continued fighting between rebels and loyalists in the capital.

After six months of often brutal fighting, rebels pushed into the capital over the weekend, in what many Libyans hope marks the end of Gadhafi's 42-year reign. Three of Gadhafi's sons, who have been key figures in the regime, were reportedly under arrest.
