Richard Feynman said:
If you give me the right man in any field, I can talk to him,
I know what the condition is: that he did whatever he did as far as he can go
that he studied every aspect of it as far as he has stretched himself to the end
he's not a dilettant in any way, and so he talks deep, as far as he can go.

So good...

You should read "Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman". It's a compendium of the lectures he gave about his life shortly before he died.

edit: no that's wrong. You should read "Classic Feynman", of which "surely you're joking" is just one "chapter" (lecture) in the compendium. Here you go on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Feynman-Adventures-Curious-Character/dp/0393061329/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1309007760&sr=8-3
