keynote speech by John Carmack, the genius behind the Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake series at id software.

I don't even get half of the stuff he says about graphics engines, but the second part of his talk is more interesting anyway. I don't know what it is, but I think it relates to Richard Feynman's comment:

"If you give me the right man in any field, I can talk to him, I know what the condition is: that he did whatever he did as far as he can go that he studied every aspect of it as far as he has stretched himself to the end he's not a dilettant in any way, and so he talks deep, as far as he can go."
