Far Cry 2

I can't believe Far Cry 2 hasn't been brought up. I LOVE this game, it's one of my top 5 all time favorites. Just downright amazing gameplay.

The physics in the game are great, there's dynamic weather, wind, a whole range of vehicles you can run around in, and the story is just insane. Great great game. Trailers below!





these are all straight out of the game, no special cut scenes. The game is gorgeous, and hard as HELL

The AI is really impressive, they talk back and forth(you can listen in) to relay where they think you are and search for you. They help each other, tell each other to watch out, warn each other, etc. Heres a vid showing how one will carry another to safety.

haha ya this has no tie to the first game at all that I can tell, and there's a selection of characters to play as. Kind of cool, depending on who you are people react differently to you. Usually it's just dialogue, but occasionally missions are harder if someone doesn't like what race you are.

I've heard of this game but never got around to actually play it. I'm not even into shooter anymore but looks quite good.

It's just ,£2.50 on Steam today... I bought it but my internet is being stupid (75 kb/s? WTF?) so it's taking ages to download.

Like I mentioned, I'm not even sure if my PC will run it at all, but a bit of research rather than guesswork has me hopeful. In any case, it's a bargain price and when I finally get a new PC sometime, I'll still have that game.

It finally finished downloading, and it works! And it's so much fun! :shock: Driving to within range of an enemy camp or outpost, then scouting it with the monocular and sniping people in the legs to make their friends come running, when I can get a headshot. Just do that until everyone is dead or wounded, then mop up the wounded with a pistol at close range. It's friggin' incredible gameplay.

I've always loved the game... too bad my desktop can't handle it even half decently.. I'm stuck at like 15 FPS at MOST.

Jesus, what gun is that?
I'm quite partial to the explosive-tipped crossbow and M1901 sniper rifle, personally. Take out a vehicle with a crossbow shot, then get headshots on all the infantry which are out in the open. I just keep a semi automatic side-arm for close-quarters, although even then, I usually just drive in and gun down the survivors with whatever weapon is mounted on my vehicle.

That's an M79 Grenade Launcher

I like to play Sniper with a dart rifle, keep a silenced pistol, and a grenade launcher for when shit gets hairy. In that scene I'd been chased down by some asshat in a truck with a mounted gun - something neither a pistol nor dart rifle will solve. So, grenade.

Wait til you do the mission with the Oil Tanker though, ooooh shit that's fun. Keep an eye on your friend for that one though, I accidentally let Warren Clyde die I was so sad

Where you have to kill the Gurkha then destroy the tanker for the APR, then help in the troop train ambush? I did that literally last night. I healed my buddy, got him on his feet, then a man with a gun came right next to me. So I opened fire as I turned and gave the man I had just healed a face-full of bullets. Fucksakes.

haha awesome, or suck. I hate when that happens, but it is kinda funny.

That's one of my favorite missions. Possibly is my favorite on the first map. There's one on the second map where you have to run all over the place dodging mortar shells, that's my favorite.

I had sort of assumed the first area was everything. I mean, it is pretty damn big.
