Fall of the Banana Man

They say "2 populations make up 2 seperate species if they can't interbreed with eachother".
Does that mean horses and donkeys are the same species? They can interbreed with eachother, so do tigers and lions.

In the heat of the debate the phrase " produce fertile offspring" got lost ;)

I got though about 1/4 of the way though last night, but I got past the part where Ray says "Something can't create itself. Such a thing would be crazy to believe." I'm surprised Matt didn't back him into the "What created god?" question right there.

Yeah, this is pretty embarrassing. I do want to point out one interesting detail around 22 minutes though - Ray Comfort uses vaccines. Makes it pretty embarrassing for Bill Maher too.

It's embarrassing for who? I haven't had the chance to watch all of it. So that's unclear to me currently. Also, is Bill Maher anti-vacs or something?

Bill Maher, yes he is. It caused a big stink when Dawkins wanted to give him an award for Religulous.

That IS embarrassing... :? WTF Bill?! Talk about how there's no need for religion because of science and then deny science yourself on vaccinations and join the ranks of Jenny McArthy and Alex Jones instead....brilliant. Maybe he should lay off the joints just a little and gain some sense of clarity.

Could just be afraid of needles. *shrug*
He wouldn't be the only one in the world that has opted out of shots and other vaccinations for the sake of a fear. Hell, in boot camp they asked who wanted to get a Meningitis vaccine - I opted out of that due to the battery of shots I was going to experience anyhow...
(I ended up getting it anyway because they just randomly yanked the same number out of the line as there were volunteers for the shot, but that's just military efficiency for you. -_-)

If this word is not part of the English language IT DAMN WELL SHOULD BE.

Hahaha! That's what I get for sneaking in some posts during working hours.

I edited it, but thanks to you, it will be known forever.

That video doesn't give the image of a man who simply has a fear of needles. Also, I don't think you were completely planing on skipping vaccines because of some obscure fear of government medical incompetence. I do remember getting vaccinated multiple times myself with the same vaccine in a relatively short span -- along with many other people in the military. Everyone turned out fine. Sure it's somewhat anecdotal, but that doesn't seem to stop the anti-vacs people from jumping on every rare event in which something negative may or may not be cause by a vaccine either.

I fear needles but even I realise that vaccinations are massively important. I'd rather get vaccinated than sick.

I think that you'd be suprised about how badly many people fear needles, and if you compile that with a general distrust of the system, and the competence of the people giving it to you, the toll on a person can ring in a truly irrational manner.

No Maher stated on various occasions that he doesn't believe that vaccines work and that he thinks them dangerous.

Oh, remember how we all didn't drop dead from the swine-flue vaccine although we were supposed to because the government (wherever you live) wanted to depopulate the country starting with medical workers, young people, pregnant women and kids? Because it really makes sense to want to tyranically rule a country that consists out of grannies. That's civil disobedience for you!

Well I suppose that a fear of needles could be an underlying aspect as well, but I saw more of an "Alex Jones -like" government paranoia vibe in Bill's words.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused by this response. Was it directed at me? The highlighted part is pretty much what I thought I've been agreeing with as far as the subject of Bill Maher goes. Everything else....Yeah, I do wonder if these paranoid anti-vacs evangelists stop to think about what this all adds up to? They really should work on that aspect of their hypothesis.

He's not only an anti-vaxer, he doesn't believe in germ theory. He doesn't believe in germs and viruses!
