i'm going to express my view without giving any spoilers to the storyline etc, i've read a lot of user reviews and well... nevermind

i approached this film expecting to be disappointed as i am a die hard horror fan and lets face it, remakes almost always fail in comparison to the original but you have to watch a film before you can make a genuine decision about it.

funnily enough i was disappointed, as the story was badly told, some parts very rushed and others just pointless
the acting was pretty 2 dimensional with the majority of the cast, well... all of them, i didn't feel any character presence at all and the script in places is painful to endure.
freddy's ''realistic'' makeup looks terrible, he kinda looks like the blue fish guy from hellboy, except he's red with a hat and glove
basically he looks like a small red fish lol
IMO i don't see the point in adding any realism into a film unless you're prepared to add realism to every aspect of that film, this is where the film failed again (what do you expect, he's a dream demon)
the kills are either recycled from the original or unimaginative tensionless gore, i mean come on, ANYTHING can happen in a dream, they clearly didn't put much thought into it

GOOD POINTS well sorta...
there are good ideas thrown into this but it's hard to mention them without ruining parts of the story so i'm only going to mention that SOME of the ideas were good and do keep you interested (if only for a short while) but then they fail to build on these ideas and so much potential gets lost when you see the outcome

i wouldn't recommend this film but at least watch it once to make your own decision, just dont pay to see it as you will more than likely be disappointed
oh well...
next stop, ong bak 3
