I would have preferred to post a link to the Science article but it's unlikely that most people have a subscription - which is probably why the BBC didn't post a link to it in their article...

Good, just like we like to hear. I didn't expect earth like ones to be the most common, I was thinking Super earth/Ice Giants/Neptune size non ice giants would win out.

Obviously as time goes on and telescopes get more precise etc. we will be able to find more of the smaller ones and in greater detail.

At least we're moving in on the first few parts of the drake equation then. Maybe the others won't be such guesses as well soon!

looks like the drake equation's first few terms can be refined from mere guesses at least then! how many more i wonder.
