Hebrew University Prof. Shanon argues that Israelite religious ceremonies included use of drugs.

This is plausible as when Shanaon argues that Israelite religious ceremonies included use of drugs, because only in a state of high can one view or experience as sense of religious euphoria, where moses, in this case, created those laws, including the imaginary voices he experienced at that time.

I like this alternative.

Also, psychotropic musrooms grow on the island of Patmos, where John wrote Revelation. I see a pattern...

I agree, because in such a state, he loses control, where he lets his imagination fly.

Applying occam's razor, skip to making a religion, because you don't need to get high in order to make a religion, all that is needed is a good imagination and a sincere appearance.

hehe, I just made another thread that answers why your "skip getting high" part does not appeal to me

Surely a possibility. Much more probable, in fact, infinitely more probable that god was communicating to him.

If L. Ron Hubbard can do it, you can.

And perhaps you'll even beat him by not ending up dead hopped on psychiatric medication, on a private ship and chased by the FBI.

And this is only coming out now? :? I've been using the "You people believe things written by people who where high as larks (needs new name...)" argument for YEARS. Surprisingly effect too.

Greetings,

One hypothesis regarding Moses's "trip" up the mountain holds that, as his Laws share similarities with the code of Egyptian priests', he was actually visiting a pyramid (referred to as "Mount Sinai"). It is well known that Egyptian priests used hallucinogens to get a taste of what the altered state of conciousness would be like - so, it's possible...

Kindest regards,

James
