Check out what the BBC did. They made a website where you can play with the Drake equation and see the results. You can play with all the parameters in the equation I believe.

I picked the Drake Equation apart for a thread on Ratskep a while back. I'd post it here, but it's quite Latex heavy, so I'll link to it.
