Disappointing Grandma this Xmas

I hope this doesn't sound callous but I wouldn't want to be considered a relative by someone who disowned family members because of their religious views.

My recommendation is to send her a song by Cee Lo Green, but I'm crewel like that.

Sorry mate, that really sucks.

Cheers guys, it was a bit of a shock to me.
I think she's just a bit crabby because she grew up behind the Iron Curtain, so she just generally associates athiesm with her old evil Commie overlords.
Looks like after 20 years of getting away with it, the traditional Christmas Eve family get together could be interesting!

Create a super ultra mega atheist group and add her to it.
Then create 20 more similar ones and add her to each of them.

...or not  But if it wasn't your Grandma then I'd totally recommend you to do that.

Maybe create a "tolerance for others regardless of their beliefs" group or something and add her to it as an indirect way of responding.

It doesn't matter if you go or not.

Regardless if you attend or not, you are still and atheist, as your grandmother says, "I don't want to be connected to atheist."

Seal the deal and get her a stack of Dawkins, Hitchens and Harris books for Christmas

Though I'm inclined to agree with the 'If a relative disnowns you over your theological opinions then it's no great loss' train of thought.

Ask her to forgive you.
What exactly is he asking forgiveness for ?

Do your best to make sure she understands what an atheist is and why you are one.
Pretending to be a Christian is dishonest and wrong. How someone can recommend lying to a grandmother is beyond me.

She is the one not accepting you for you, and she is the one that needs to change to fix it not you.

Oh .. and go get presents .. because presents are awesome.

Does she think Atheism is some sort of weird demon worship?
No Joke!
She cracked the shits once because she saw me in an AC/DC shirt. That's the "devil's music." I also once had a wallet which had a skull on it, in American Indian headdress. She wanted to take it off me and burn it!

Of course you're right. My family have been pretending for her sake ever since I can remember, so it's always just seemed natural to me. Nothing for it now though, like you said I'll just have to explain it to her as best I can.

Avoid the topic if you can. Distract her with christian relics. Hehe.

Was the irony intended?

Through the book? You're missing at least a verb and and the subject there.
