Debate Comments: Bible or Atheism

arg-fallbackName=")O( Hytegia )O("/>
Can I play this game?

I'm a Pagan.
Dotree is a Christian.

Let's count up the Miracles:
-Made it through some of the hardest training in history to become a certified EOD technician.
-Survived tours in Afghanistan that included being shot and hit, including several gunfights, along with several instances of devices going off either too early to do any damage or me making it to them on time to render it null - and many instances of handling things such as grenades and unexploded missiles/rounds/bombs/etc. without a sinch of problem.
-Survived a grenade short without disabling injury.
-Getting a solid college education and getting payed for service.

Dotree:
-None as cool as mine so it doesn't matter.

Achievements:
-So many medals on my chest I could probably take a bullet on them and have a decent chance of survival.
-Commendations
-Saved numbers of lives

Dotree:
-Writing on the internet, getting sued, and teaching some subject he hasn't really clarified to anyone (but, given the content of his posts, he's obviously not an English teacher).

Morality:
-Don't toss around figures that can't stick up for themselves.

Dotree:
-Compares Hitchens' illness to his grandfather's hopefully-robustt, yet I probably know Atheists, Muslims, and so on still living ages beyond his Grandfather and there's the fact that Christians get Cancer all the time - so is he implying that True Christians (c) don't get Cancer?

I think it's quite obvious which one is the Better Faith to hold in contrast.

I felt my brain hemorrhage when Truthislife actually compared the health of Hitchens to his grandfather to make some sort of point.
His point was that because hitchens is an atheist and sick, and his grandfather is christian and not sick, this proves that christians are healthier than atheists which proves that god exists and christianity is true. Nevermind that cherrypicking your anecdotes makes the anecdote even more worthless than usual, and nevermind that anecdote is not data, and nevermind that even if he had data that christians in general were more healthy it wouldn't prove divinity....

Yes and just to hammer home the point; This man ran a full marathon at the age of more than 100 (which i consider to be just as, if not more impressive than his examples)! Evidently he is not a christian so what exactly is he supposed to prove again with regards to Dotoree's point?

Your entire post made me think of this.

I have to say that I am glad to see that this debate is moving again. I still have not read dotoree's prior post, but I can get the main points from reading Inferno's longer post. Perhaps now dotoree will focus his tact to actually addressing the debate. It appears that nothing he has put forward thus far has shown that the bible has a better case for anything. I guess it would be hard to go about showing that a book that indorses slavery would have a better case for anything in our modern world.
