This is the official discussion thread for the debate found here. Debate participants are forbidden from posting in this thread.

The first pair to agree upon a topic and organise for a random debate exercise sort of thing, the topic kinda spontaneous, and I'm really curious to see where it goes. :p

As KnowingLaughter pointed out, the discussion thread is in the religion forum. I'm not sure why, in retrospect.

I can't wait to see how this goes! Krishnalists are especially notorious for considering basil "holy". They eat its leaves after prayers.

Basil can and indeed is eaten both fresh and dried, and may even serve us well as a zombie* repellant should the need arise.

*Zombies, along with vampires, share attributes with the mosquito.

Love it.

This is the best debate so far

And of course I won't get Scarborough Fair out of my head for days now, since it's
A) one of my favourite songs anyway
B) my daughter's favourite lullaby

Oh, and Basil is definetly better than sage, but the best herb IS bear's garlic

I typically put basil in my eggs as scrambled eggs are the one and only food not enhanced by Old Bay. It does serve quite admirably in that role, I'll give it that.

I second this.
Delicious.

It is probably unethical for me to say here, but off the record, I tend toward the basil no position. Because salt is god and rosemary is fun.

I'm learning all kinds of curious uses of spices by virtue of this discussion though, minus the seafood, and feel a bit of sadistic satisfaction realising that I spontaneously instructed both participants that they were neither allowed to use recipies or pictures of food in their arguments, yet we can criticise them and their lack of insight here, and they are not allowed to respond. :D

Inferno, I forgive you the cartoon given that Prolescum has neglected the argument. I really really hope you guys go on. I'd love to hear more mp3s.

And I am still open to arguing someone. :/

I promise I won't cheat if I do.
